Orienteering career
Monika began with orienteering at the age of 14 in the sport club Kamenice near Prague, coached by Sarka Valaskova and Petr Valasek. When she turned 17, the first of the Czech Championships medals came, and she ranked as number one in her category at the end of the season. In the same year 2005 she became a leader of the Czech team at the European Youth Championships in Sumperk, Czech Republic, finishing 1st, 2nd and 5th in the W18 category.
Consequently Monika represented the Czech junior team at JWOC in Lithuania and Australia in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Her best results were 8th place in relay, 17th place in sprint, 24th place in long and 34th place in middle. Among international success can be also counted her two victories in long distance in Spring Cup, Denmark in 2006 and 2007 in W18 and W20.
Nowadays Monika is preparing for the JWOC 2008 in Gothenburg, Sweden, guided by her coach Jan Wdowka.
